PWD Welcomes Environmental Educators, Carina Brown and Kyle Magaliff, both of Portland

11.01.2015

The Portland Water District welcomes Carina Brown and Kyle Magaliff, environmental educators. Carina and Kyle will visit schools in the Sebago Lake Watershed and the PWD service area throughout the school year, teaching water-related science lessons to over 1,000 students each month.

Carina Brown is returning for her fourth year as an educator at PWD.  She has a degree in biology from USM and has also worked on education initiatives at Audubon in Scarborough. Carina has contributed significantly to our programs since 2012; she played a key role in coordinating outdoor outreach events that have drawn increasing numbers of participants and revamping our in-school HydroLogics curriculum to increase its effectiveness and continuity.

Kyle Magaliff is from the Cape Cod region of Massachusetts. Kyle graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2014 with a degree in environmental science and a certificate in professional writing. He has worked in the US and abroad on projects relating to sustainable agriculture, coastal land remediation, invasive species management, and plastic ocean pollution. His strong writing skills and past outreach experience will transfer well to both PWD outreach initiatives and our in-school programs.
