Woodland Owner Appreciation Day

BRIDGTON – 20 to 40 landowners of 10+ acres of woodlands will gather at the Lakes Environmental Association’s Highland Research Forest for an afternoon of appreciation and discovery.

WHAT: Woodland Owner Appreciation Day

WHERE: Highland Research Forest, Bridgton, ME

WHEN: 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28

WHO: Resource professionals from Lakes Environmental Association, Portland Water District, Maine Forest Service, Loon Echo Land Trust, Western Foothills Land Trust, Maine Tree Farm, Maine Audubon, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Maine Woodland Owners and consulting foresters from Northwest Forest Management. Landowners of 10 or more acres of woodlands in towns in and around the Sebago Lake Watershed.

The event provides opportunities for woodland owners to hear natural resource protection organizations recognize the values and benefits of woodlands. Additionally, attendees will have opportunities to meet and speak with resource professionals about questions and goals for their land by joining one of three topics in breakout walks through LEA’s Highland Research Forest: 1) managing woodlands for sustainable income, 2) attracting wildlife to your forest, and 3) planning for future generations. Attendees can enter to win raffle prizes, will enjoy complimentary lunch, and beer brewed with Sebago Lake water donated by Allagash Brewing Company.  Registration is required and space is limited.  FMI and to register: mainelakes.org
