Certain businesses in Westbrook/Gorham/Windham are required to comply with a series of Clean Water Act mandates because of the nature of the industrial wastewater they discharge to the sewer. All 17 industries who are part of the industrial pretreatment program take extra measures to help protect the Presumpscot River.
