The Portland Water District is pleased to announce that Elisabeth Nkanga of Westbrook has been awarded the 2025 Joseph A. DiPietro Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.
Elisabeth is pursuing a degree in Engineering at the University of Southern Maine and is the first in her family to attend college. She embodies the values that defined Mr. DiPietro’s legacy—commitment to community and a passion for public service.
The Board of Trustees established the Joseph A. DiPietro Memorial Scholarship in honor of Mr. DiPietro’s fifteen years of dedicated service representing the City of Portland. The scholarship supports students who reflect his unwavering dedication to protecting public health and the environment through careers in the water sector.
