New program helps residents pay water and sewer bills

The Maine Water Assistance Program is a new federally funded program to help support eligible households maintain access to drinking water and wastewater utility services. This program assists Maine residents having difficulty paying their water and wastewater bills. The program provides direct payments to participating water and sewer utilities on behalf of customers.

MaineHousing is administering the new program which is available to income-qualified households who receive their water through public water or wastewater utilities and have an account in their name.
