  • Boil Water Order Lifted for Peaks Island, Little Diamond Island, Great Diamond, House Island, and Cushing Island
    Customers can now use their tap water for all purposes. The boil water order is lifted as of February 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. All water tests indicate the water is safe to drink without boiling. On February 20, 2026, a boil water order advisory was issued for all of Peaks Island, Little Diamond Island, Great Diamond, House Island, and Cushing Island as a precaution due to a water main break. Questions regarding this notice should be directed to:

    The public hearing on bond issuance and monthly business meeting of the Portland Water District Board of Trustees scheduled for February 23, 2026 at 6:00 PM is postponed, and will instead be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026 in the Nixon Room, 225 Douglass Street, Portland, ME.     Important notice regarding backflow inspection letters:
    PWD recently sent a backflow device inspection letter in error to some customers with non-testable devices. If you do not currently submit yearly testing results and your device is non-testable, no action is required, and you may disregard the letter.
