The Portland Water District (PWD) uses social media to share information, provide updates, and engage with our customers and community.

Our Expectations for Online Engagement

We welcome comments, questions, and constructive discussion. To help maintain a respectful and informative space, please note:

  • Comments must remain respectful and relevant to the topic being discussed.
  • Content that is profane, obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, harassing, threatening, or that includes personal insults or slurs may be removed.
  • Spam, commercial promotions, or comments unrelated to PWD services or programs may be removed.
  • Comments containing false or misleading information that could impact public safety may be addressed or removed.
  • PWD respects the First Amendment rights of commenters and appreciates varying viewpoints.
Privacy and Use of Content

Visitors to PWD’s social media pages should be aware thatthere is no expectation of privacywhen posting comments, messages, photos, or other content on these platforms. Content shared on PWD’s social media pages may be visible to the public, archived, or reproduced by PWD in accordance with applicable law.

Public Records

Content posted on or sent to PWD through social media may be considered a public record under Maine’s Freedom of Access Act.
