Water District's education programs recognized for excellence.

01.25.2018

The Portland Water District’s environmental education staff was honored last night with the Maine Environmental Education Association’s 2017 Excellence in Environmental Education Program Award.

The award recognizes the Portland Water District’s innovative and effective curriculums and its commitment to sharing them with other organizations and teachers throughout the state.

The Portland Water District offers various educational opportunities which are important components to our overall efforts to protect the water quality in Sebago Lake. Through both field and classroom experiences, programs reach approximately 2,500 students per year in the Sebago Lake Watershed and the Water District service area, with many of these students receiving multiple visits from the Portland Water District through consistent programming.
