Portland Water District Honored With Peak Performance Awards

08.23.2016

The Portland Water District’s Westbrook/Gorham Wastewater Treatment Facility has received a Silver Peak Performance Award and the Peaks Island Wastewater Treatment Facility was honored with a Gold Peak Performance Award.  The Peak Performance Awards program presented by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) recognizes public wastewater treatment facilities for their outstanding compliance records in the 2015 calendar year.  The Gold Award honors treatment works that have achieved 100 percent compliance with their NPDES permit for an entire calendar year, and Silver Awards recognize facilities that have received no more than five NPDES permit violations per calendar year.

“The Portland Water District is an outstanding example of environmental efforts.   NACWA is honored to showcase the achievements of the Portland Water District’s Peaks Island and Westbrook Treatment Plants and our nation’s public wastewater utilities through the Peak Performance Awards Program.” Adam Krantz, NACWA’s Chief Executive Officer.
