PWD Received Water Fluoridation Quality Award From CDC |

| The Portland Water District recently received the Water Fluoridation Quality Award from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The award recognizes water systems than maintained a consistent level of optimal fluoridation throughout the year. Fluoridation is the adjustment of fluoride in the water to optimal levels that prevent tooth decay. The Portland Water District is one of 48 water systems in Maine that received the award.
Community water fluoridation is recognized by the CDC as one of the ten greatest public health achievements in the 20th Century. |
