PWD Receives National Recognition For Sebago Lake Stewardship
The Portland Water District is proud to announce it received the American Water Works Association’s 2012 Exemplary Source Water Protection Award for large systems this week. The award recognizes PWD’s comprehensive efforts to protect Sebago Lake which is the source of water for Greater Portland. The protection program includes water quality monitoring, security, inspections, direct actions, education, land acquisition and preservation.
“I am pleased to accept this award. It honors the hard work and dedication of our scientists who care for Sebago Lake every day so our customers can enjoy some of the best drinking water in the country,” stated General Manager Ronald Miller.
The American Water Works Association is the international nonprofit association dedicated to safe water. It was founded in 1881 and today has over 50,000 members.
