Scam Advisory
(GREATER PORTLAND) - The Portland Water District is advising Greater Portland residents to beware of anyone who claims to be a Portland Water District employee but does not have proper identification.
The advisory is in response to a recent case where a Portland Water District customer was approached by two men indicating the need to access the home for meter work. Fortunately, the customer was suspicious and called PWD to verify the work. PWD had no record of work in that area, and advised the customer to disregard the request.

All Portland Water District employees carry photo identification and wear uniforms. In addition, they drive white vehicles with the District's name and logo clearly visible.
"If there is any doubt in the customer's mind, they should call our customer service hotline at 761-8310 to verify if the individual is a Portland Water District employee," said Customer Service Director Linda Fallona.
