PWD Introduces Warranty Against Service Line Leaks
The Portland Water District contracted with Home Service USA
Corporation to provide a water service line warranty program to
residential customers.
For less than $4 a month, this program will protect customers
against unexpected service line leaks and breaks.
While the Portland Water District owns and maintains the water
mains and service lines in the street and public way, customers
own the service line on their property. If a privately-owned
service line springs a leak, the customer is responsible for
fixing the problem. Service line repairs typically cost between
$1,200 and $2,000. If protected by the warranty program,
customers make one call and Home Service USA will locate a
qualified plumber to fix the problem and will settle the bill
directly (up to $2,500 per occurrence).
