Water Education Mini-Grants

Grants are available to all educators in the Sebago Lake Watershed and the Portland Water District service area with preference given to teachers who have not participated in the program before.

Please view the map, to see if your school is eligible to participate.

Apply Now

The Portland Water District offers mini-grants to support teacher’s water quality education programs. Eligible teachers can apply for a $100 grant to buy relevant water education materials.

Some examples:

PDF Document Videos, Maps, Books, and Posters
PDF Document Water Related Curriculum Materials
PDF Document Materials and Testing Equipment for an Outdoor Classroom
PDF Document Plants for a Community Service Project to Protect Water Quality
PDF Document Bus Fees for Field Trips to Local Water Resources and Water Related Events

If more than one teacher in your school is interested in applying for a grant, you may want to submit a collective proposal. We will provide $100 per teacher in the "collective," (up to $500 per school). This allows you and your colleagues to purchase larger, more expensive equipment that will be shared among several classrooms.

Access these funds by Completing the Water Education Mini-Grant Application. Only one application is required for collective proposals. Please contact our education coordinator at 774.5961 Ext. 3324 if you have any questions regarding the application process.
