As Portland became the financial and economic hub of the state, Maine’s largest public water system was born. Portland Water District historians will describe the birth of the area’s public water supply and the devastating event that changed everything. They’ll discuss major events that shaped one of today’s best water supplies in the country as well as the wise decisions of our predecessors.
