The Portland Water District contracts with HomeServe USA Corporation to provide warranty programs that cover water lines, septic/sewer lines, and internal plumbing.

For only $5.49 a month, the water service line warranty program will protect residential customers against unexpected service line leaks and breaks. For another $7.99, septic lines can also be protected. The interior plumbing protection is $9.99.

While the Portland Water District owns and maintains the water mains and service lines in the street and public way, customers own the service lines on their property. If a privately-owned service line springs a leak, the customer is responsible for fixing the problem. Service line repairs can cost up to $2,300. If protected by the warranty programs, customers make one call and HomeServe USA will locate a qualified plumber to fix the problem and will settle the bill directly.
